Rudy Marcus

Rudy Marcus, Ph. D., facilitates a unique approach to online education in responsible conduct of research at his web site http://storiesandquestions.com. Continuing education units can be earned for work on the web site. Inspiration for the material and methodology of these online seminars came from Rudy's yearly national tour lectures for the American Chemical Society (ACS) and his monthly columns for CHEMTECH, as well as from many workshops which he has led for basic research project leaders, the Guild for Psychological Studies, the Washington Society for Jungian Psychology, and other groups.

Rudy is a physical chemist whose early career was devoted to solar energy conversion and was followed by twenty years at the Office of Naval Research (ONR), where he formulated and coordinated a number of cooperative research efforts involving university, industry, and government laboratories. Personal research during that time created free-text databases containing chemical information, followed by computer clustering of such text data and deriving structure-activity relationships from them. Later, Rudy was Scientific Director of ONR Far East at the American Embassy, Tokyo. He was also founding secretary, chairman, and program chairman of the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry. He is a Fellow of the AAAS.
