Maureen Draper



Maureen McCarthy Draper is a classical pianist and teacher, who has led seminars for the Guild and other organizations for 25 years. Twice a year she and Nils Peterson offer a music and poetry retreat at her home in the Santa Cruz Mountains (the next one is Saturday, May 7, 2005). With an M.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in Comparative Literature and Conservatory training, she relates music to the other arts and to the psychology of listening. She is the author of The Nature of Music: Beauty, Sound, and Healing and two companion CDs by the same name, and is currently Coordinator of the Music for Health Program at Stanford Hospital.
